Bono Joins New $3 Billion TPG Investment Fund As Special Advisor

BonoJust as U2 heads out on a major tour, frontman Bono is adding to his resume as special advisor to a major new tech investment fund; and this isn't the first time he's dabbled at tech.

U2 frontman Bono has accepted the role of special adviser to a new $3 billion growth fund currently raised by equity fund investor David Bonderman's TPG Capital, according to the NY The Post. Bono has image from images.vcpost.comalso reportedly invested $3 million of his own money in TPG owned carpooling service Ride.

Actor and tech investor Ashton Kusher will also take on a similar role at TPG's new fund.

In 2005, Bono was a co-founder of investment fund Elevation Partners.  That firm appears to be winding down.  “For Bono, TPG is the replacement of Elevation Partners,” a source told The Post. Bono is also on the board of Fender Musical Instruments, which is owned by TPG.
