Eurosonic Noorderslag Chalks Up Another Successful Year

image from www.celebrityaccess.comEuropean music convention and festival Eurosonic Noorderslag has wrapped up a successful session for 2016. The festival and conference, which ran January 13th – 16th in Groningen, Netherlands, attracted 4,124 international professionals from 40 countries to network and discuss recent developments in the European music industry.

The conference and its keynotes addressed issues ranging from safety, sustainability, sound pollution and production innovations to technological developments such as video content, video streaming services, start-ups in tech and music and the proposed Blockchain system.

As well, the event showcased more than 340 European acts at 43 venues around Groningen, with The Blossoms and Nao, both from the UK; Dubioza Kolektiv from Bosnia and John Coffey from the Netherlands attracting particular attention.

This year, Noorderslag, in cooperation with European Broadcasting Union and with the support of the European Commission, launched the European Border Breakers Charts, a weekly set of airplay-based charts that track European artists who are getting airplay outside of their home country.

Next year's Eurosonic Noorderslag is set to take place from January 11 to 14, 2017 with a focus on the music from Portugal.
