Once only available to top musicians and other celebrities, Twitter has expanded its verified account program which lets users know that the account is authentic.

"The badge appears next to the name on an account’s profile and next to the account name in search results. It is always the same color and placed in the same location, regardless of profile or theme color customizations," says Twitter. "Accounts that don’t have the badge next to their name but that display it somewhere else, for example in the profile photo, header photo, or bio, are not verified accounts" and may be suspended.

With the expansion, Twitter has also simplified the verification process. If you believe your account is of public interest – as every artist account should be – and should be verified,  you can find details about submitting a request to Twitter here.

  1. Don’t waste your time. You won’t be verified, but receive the following message from twitter:
“Thanks for your request to verify @xyz
We reviewed the account, and unfortunately it is not eligible to be verified at this time.
Please visit our Help Center for more information about the types of accounts we verify.”
Unless you are a big US corporation, or major media firm (who PAY Twitter to get verified) it’s
not going to happen. Example: Notice how every Hollywood movie gets verified on Twitter.
Everybody else won’t, motto: “You pay, you stay!”
A complete waste of time and energy.
    Have a nice day,
    Seichiro Smith
