The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts has launched an online crowdfunding campaign aimed at the preservation of the Woodstock festival grounds.  This year's campaign is focused on the wooded area dubbed the Bindy Bazaar, which festival organizers intended as a marketplace and entry point for the festival.

"We are undertaking a series of historic preservation projects on this recently designated National Register Historic Site. These undertakings will make yet unexplored areas of the festival site accessible and enable us to reveal further, the factual history that lies just beneath the surface, and use innovative technologies to immerse visitors in all the stories the site offers. "

The Bindy Bazaar woods are located across Hurd Road from the festival field. These restored footpaths, when completed, will offer visitors the opportunity to explore a historic part of the Woodstock festival grounds.

Darlene Fedun, Chief Executive Officer of Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, said, “Woodstock was all about the community that developed on these grounds and so is this fundraiser. This is a true example of how each of us, when united as a community, can make a much greater positive impact together – combined each donation, regardless of size, will contribute to the preservation of this important historic site.”

Planned future projects include restoring the landscape contours where the Woodstock stage stood and marking the footprints of the stage and other key structures on the field, as well as developing an interactive self-guided tour of the grounds.
