  1. I’ve been exploring these updates as FB has been testing this in a few other countries. I’ve also been saying (screaming) “Engagement over Visibility” on panels, at lectures, and to clients for a while. FB understands it’s the quality of relationships, not the quantity, which matters most. Artists need to realize this as well. FB blatantly states, “[With regard to interactions]: “Person-to-person will be more valuable than person-to-page.” Artists will need to up their engagement game moving forward. Additionally, taking those relationships off third-party social channels and utilizing email lists, SMS campaigns, and – surprise – real-life interactions at events, will be absolutely crucial moving forward.
