Which Music Streamer Pays Best? It’s Not Spotify [CHART]

Overview:  While Spotify cut new lower royalty deals with the major labels, other music streamers like Tidal or Apple Music are paying out substantially higher per-stream payments to artists and songwriters.

  1. The one that pays the best is the one that’s no longer in business.
    I also find it telling that the ones that appear to pay better than others are available in fewer countries. I’d be interested in seeing the same data but limited to the top 5 or 10 countries by revenue, as it seems per-stream data in some territories are artificially dragging down the worldwide numbers.
    I’d also be curious to see a subscription vs ad-supported breakdown. Lumping them all together isn’t an accurate representation.
