Stone Foxes Have $60,000 Gear Stolen, Fans Respond

StoneFoxesJust a day after their tour opened in at Sundown at Granada in Dallas, the San Fran-based rock band The Stone Foxes had their van and all of the gear swiped from the parking lot of a La Quinta Inn.

“Rough day folks, our whole rig, all of our gear, our van and trailer were stolen today. If you know anyone in the Dallas please let them know to be on the look out, thank you very much!” the band wrote in a social media post.

According to the Dallas Observer, the van and trailer were stolen after repairs were done to the trailer’s suspension, and contained more than $60,000 worth of road gear at the time of the theft. Per the Observer, the theft occurred sometime between 1 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. when the band’s frontman Shannon Koehler noticed it was no longer in the parking lot.

“You know what it feels like when your heart sort of drops?” he told the Observer. “I walked around the entire hotel and thought, ‘Oh sweet lord in heaven, these guys better be going to get gas.’”

Garland police spokesman Lt. Pedro Barineau told the Observer that investigators don’t have any evidence of serial car theft, but noted four vehicles have been stolen from the hotel’s parking lot in the last year.

Sammy Hagar To The Rescue

Since news of the theft broke, the band’s supporters have started a GoFundMe page to help them get back on their feet. Contributors include former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, who boosted the visibility of the fundraiser with a tweet and made a generous donation of his own.

In the last 5 days $21,000 of a $45,000 goal has been raised.

  1. Who’s dumb enough to leave all that gear in a van overnight? I would be surprised if it wasn’t stolen.
