Troy Carter To Exit Spotify In September [OFFICIAL]

TroyCarterThe long rumored departure of Spotify's Global Head of Creator Services Troy Carter has been confirmed by the music streamer.  He will exit in early September, but will  continue to advise Spotify, according to multiple sources.

At least one source claims that Spotify will now merge its Creator Services division with its Shows & Editorial team to be led by Nick Holmsténm the current Global Head of Shows & Editorial.

There have been multiple rumors -sometime denied by Carter – of his departure over the last two months.  They began after Spotify announced then pulled back from a 'hate and hurtful' policy banned  XXXTentacion, R Kelly and others from official playlists.  While concerned that the policy smacked of censorship, Carter denied the rumor.

Last month, the New York Post reported that Carter was exiting Spotify for Epic Records. He has not confirmed or denied that that is where he's headed next.

Growing Spotify Exec Exodus

Carter now joins a growing list of Spotify executives exiting in the last few months.

They include George Ergatoudis, former UK division’s head of content programming; Tuma Basa, the man behind RapCavier and ex-head of hip-hop global programming; PR chief Angela Watts; Dave Rocco, global head of artist and label marketing and Mark Williamson, former global head of artist and industry partnerships.
