PRESS RELEASE:
SKYLINE MUSIC ADDS SYMPHONY DIVISION
Industry vet tapped to strengthen agency’s position in symphony market.
Music industry veteran Barney Kilpatrick will represent the Skyline Music agency roster for symphony and pops orchestra bookings, effective immediately, the firm’s president announced today. “As our presence in the performing arts world has grown through the efforts of Andrea Sabata and the addition of Becky Warn, we have learned the need for symphony and pops orchestras to expand their audience by using known and non-traditional guest artists,” states Skyline Music, LLC president Bruce Houghton. “Much of our growing roster is well positioned to fill this void and we are proud to have Barney come aboard to lead our efforts.”
Kilpatrick, classically trained as a child, is a 30-year industry veteran, dating from his first job as a teenager, working for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. He spent much of his career as Vice-President of Promotion for Warner Bros. Records. Kilpatrick currently operates his own Atlanta based music company, Rattlesby Records, Inc.
In his position at Skyline Music, Kilpatrick will represent acts such as Nancy Sinatra, Al Stewart, The von Trapp Children, The Chenille Sisters, Pink Floyd tribute & laser show The Machine, and the entire Skyline Music roster. Additional artists will also be represented on a very select basis for orchestra performances. The first artist chosen is veteran pop singer/songwriter Leslie Gore.
“This expansion is part of our ongoing efforts to help our artists thrive in a rapidly changing and volatile music marketplace,” adds Houghton. “As the World War II generation ages, it is clear that symphony organizations must go to greater lengths to get boomers and gen-xers into the habit of symphony-going. I am excited about the prospect of helping Skyline to help America’s symphonies achieve that goal,” says Kilpatrick.
