Ife Ekpenuma, CEO of Audacrease Entertainment Group, recently shared his Twitter dos and don'ts for indie artists and labels. They strike a nice balance of connecting with people via Twitter without overwhelming them with irrelevant tweets and content.Whether or not you agree with each one, I think you'll find Ekpenuma presents a consistent, well thought out perspective on taking care of business in the land of 140 characters.

Ashley Neal recently invited Ife Ekpenuma to present his "[13 Do’s and Don’ts of Twitter for Indie Artists and Labels](http://www.business2community.com/twitter/13-dos-and-donts-of-twitter-for-indie-artists-and-labels-0251297?ref=hypebot.com)" because he "truly has a natural knack and ability for connecting people via his social networks."

As CEO of [Audacrease Entertainment Group](https://www.facebook.com/pages/Audacrease-Entertainment-Group/294655343888918), a small emerging label based in Columbia, SC, Ekpenuma (aka [@ThatGoToGuy](https://twitter.com/ThatGoToGuy?ref=hypebot.com)) has a solid take on social networking via Twitter. I've taken a handful of his do's and dont's, condensed them and shared them below.

**TOP 5 TWITTER DOS & DON'TS FOR MUSICIANS**

**Do:** Include your band's name (or a relevant term) in your Twitter handle.

**Don't:** Choose an off-putting or rude handle that could limit your following.

**Do:** Post what you tweet on Facebook.

**Don't:** Tweet or post only your own music and content.

**Do:** Interact with your fans.

**Don't:** Come across as unapproachable.

**Do:** Follow up on interest beyond Twitter.

**Don't:** Conduct all your business in public on Twitter.

**Do:** "Have fun on Twitter."

**Don't:** "Allow Twitter to take your time away from conducting business."
