Bandcamp Wags Long Tail: Dance Music For Furries, Game & WebComic Sountracks Top The Charts

Sountracks for games, webcomics, a student produced college musical called Starkid and dance music for furries are all monetizing their unique relationship with supporters with a little help from direct to fan platform Bandcamp. Some are evening sitting near the top of Bandcamp's sales chart next to albums Sufjan Stevens, Amanda Palmer, Zoe Keating and the like. "This wasn’t something we expected to see… and at first mull it seemed a bit odd," said Bancamp's CEO Ethan Diamond.

"We suspect the answer is pretty simple. Gamers, like any artist’s fanbase, are a passionate community, and when given the opportunity  to support the creators of the music they love, they jump at the chance." he continued. "And this phenomenon isn’t restricted to the gaming community."
