   Something seems fishy.

   Absolutepunk gets like 20,000 visitors a day and the blog beating it gets 20, yet the 20 is winning by a lot.
   The other categories are so off based to.
   Anyone can erase their IP address and keep revoting. DUH!

5. I’m surprised you didn’t include FutureMusic’s Blog in the Music News category. If I want a comprehensive snapshot of the latest music technology, then one read keeps me completely up to date. Plus, i dig their weekend fun segments. futuremusic.com/blog
   Disco Belle? WTF?? I don’t know man, this list seems like “Vote For Bruce’s Pals” instead of a real objective look at the Blogs shaping the scene.

8. I’d just like to say…I realize that I’m in the lead in my category, so you can choose to believe me or not…but I feel that I’m being attacked, and I consider that very offensive.
   I have only voted once. I have told friends/family members about the contest, and also have asked my readers to vote for me, and they have. I don’t see how that’s “unfair” in any way. They are people who read my blog, and they have chosen to do me the favor of voting for me in support.
   This honestly hurts my feelings to hear people say it’s “rigged.” It doesn’t matter how many pageviews you get, it matters how loyal your readers and fans are to your blog.
   I can’t speak for other blogs, but every vote for mine has been legit. Choose to believe me or not, I just have that many supporters.

   Those who are saying the voting is rigged are probably representing those who are losing.

    As for the rigged theory, quit your crying. It’s a percentage vote which couold mean only ten people have voted in that category and the majority has gone to the winner. This is just a blog award contest, not the grammy nominations. Life will go on. Unless your still in highschool then popularity contests are not important. I’m losing to a disco blog and you dont see me crying rig!

11. Sammi, You might not be cheating but someone that likes your site is cause just look at your site. You don’t have a single comment from your “loyal” fanbase on your first page.
    Then you have absolutepunk who has 100s of comments a post.
    So you are telling me your “loyal” readers are all about voting for you in the contest but they dont comment on the words you write on your blog? LOL
    Give me a break. This thing is rigged.
    Plus, Sammi, Alexa.com doesnt lie. You don’t have that many “supporters.” And they aren’t supporting your site cause you have no comments! You have cheaters maybe 🙂

12. Alexa is BS– when I visit there, it only shows four incoming links, which is complete nonsense. Besides, I put my readers behind Mutant Sounds as well (I was also nominated, for Startling Moniker)… so you’ve got all those people voting for Mutant Sounds as well. Have some dignity, and quit being a sore (probable) loser.

    You have to have visitors for Alexa to register…ohhhhh damn! lol
    Plus, why are you wasting your nomination if you don’t care about winning? Geez, everything about this site is fake. Why are you friends with another blog? How is everyone friends on here?
    I thought this was a true industry site. Sounds like a group of friends run this site and these awards.
    If you can show everyone proof that people actually go to your sites, then my argument is done. But your own sites show NO comments plus Alexa’s say no one goes to your sites.
    So now you show me the proof….ohhh damn! lol

14. I don’t have to show you any proof, Sara… and although I don’t know anyone at Mutant Sounds well enough to consider them a friend, does it seem so crazy that a couple of experimental music blogs might support one another’s common interests?
    I may not have thousands of visitors reading my blog, but the 100-200 I do get each day are passionate folks who know how difficult it is to find quality information and writing about experimental music. If I were you, I’d be wondering how I could step up my game so that a single-author, no-advertisement blog like mine that completely ignores Alexa could be presenting you with such a challenge.

    – We’ve done what we reasonably could to keep people from voting once or “cheating” in other ways and there are no other signs that its not working
    – yes, some blogs have asked their readers to vote…but that happens in any “contest” I don’t see any harm in it
    – if you want a different outcome then start a campaign to get like minded people to vote.
    – this is an award for the best; not the most popular or site with the most traffic
    MAY THE BEST – no matter how obscure – BLOG IN EACH CATEGORY WIN!

16. i just want to advocate for 52 bands…as one who has voted for it, i am positive there is no cheating involved. if other sites get “20000” views, then where are those 20000 people? this is about voting…props to 52 Bands for being a small, quality site with loyal fans!

I just want to say that I support 52 Bands, and in no is this competition being rigged— Sammi has a great base of not only just fans, but family and friends who believe in what she’s doing want to support her in any way possible. Maybe if you actually took a look at her blog, you’d see that it deserves all the attention it’s getting!

22. This is in response to all the attacks on 52 bands. People are not cheating, and if they are, it’s certainly not because Sammi has told them to. If Absolute Punk has so many hits a day and ‘comments’, then they should be advertising for this contest. Loyalty is not based on comments, it’s based on helping people out when they need it. Therefore, even though people may not always comment on Sammi’s blogs, we still support her in everything she does.
    So, if you have such a huge issue with absolute punk losing, get the word out. It’s not that difficult, and then maybe you can see that it doesn’t mean there’s cheating going on. I think it’s pretty bold to accuse someone you don’t know of cheating, and Sammi would never encourage that.

    I never expected things to get nasty, or to have anyone attack or accuse anyone of attacking me. I realize now that it makes me no better than anyone potentially accusing any of the smaller blogs in the lead of “cheating.”
    All I’m going to say is that I hope my blog speaks for itself, and that people can see that and that it deserves the votes it’s received from readers. Here’s hoping we can all just get along, as corny as that sentiment is.

25. mutant-sounds archive is unmatched, as far as blogs go.
    itscomingoutofyourspeaker gets second place.
    ask the folks at wfmu , where ”nobody knows more about music than the fmu DJs” as they say.
    interestingly enough, wfmu never seems to win any best independent radio awards.
    Only archive.org has a bigger music archive. but they lose to crappy college stations all the time.
    Ron Paul gets 1st online, and last in ”genuine ” polls.
    Polls are crapola.
    but mutant-sounds will always rule the roost, if you’re smart enough to get it.

It’s the first time since the start of the contest that i read the comment.Actually till last Tuesday i did not even know my blog was nominated!Strangely enough i recieved the mail for nomination 2 days after it has been send.BUT,this thing here with the comments goes too far….someone told about cheating… others accusing Alexa….others Startling Moniker….Actually after checking Alexa’a traffic details…well the guys there are totally unreliable.Fact no1: Says blog is active since 2000….the truth is tha blog started January 2007, fact no.2:Gives blog’s address in India….the truth is that it is based in Greece with collaborators from the USA….if i spent more time i will find more…..the number of visitors per day is mirrored in the total downloads of music posted…i can assure you it is more than 600 per day…..and anyway….Absolut Punk sorry for beating you (as it seems)…..but you must not be real punk though if you care soooo much about contests and 1st prizes and so on…nothing personnal here of course but i had to answer to all those claiming that mutant sounds cheats…come on guys….if you want the prize so much i can send it to yoy…the prize for me is the friends of the blog that supported the nomination….this proves many things
