Today is your LAST DAY to download any Spotify historical data

Spotify will delete historical artist data across the Spotify for Artists analytics platform today, Friday, June 30th and we have instructions on how to save yours.

Why Care?

Historical data is often used to research previous tracks and trends to make smart decisions when planning the marketing of a new release.

Along with all artist data over two years old plus the year-to-date today, Spotify will also eliminate analytics features that it says are “low usage,” including Similar Artists and Compare To Other Artists analytics.

All-time stream counts on tracks will not be affected.

Why Now?

Spotify says that the change will make it possible “to bring exciting new analytics features to Spotify for Artists,” and given the expense of storing data on the estimated 120,000 tracks uploaded every day, cost is likely a factor as well.

New Spotify For Artists features include:

• Custom date range filters on more pages
• New engagement stats on your Songs page
• New fan segmentation of your active audience
• More historical data on your Audience engagement page
• A new roster management view

How To Save Spotify Data

Historical data from December 31, 2020, and earlier will be available to download from Spotify for Artists only until June 30, 2023.

Look for a downward arrow icon on song pages to download a CSV data file. This only works on the web and not from the Spotify for Artists mobile app. Spotify offers more details here.
