Instagram recently dropped a feature that changes how you connect with fans on a daily basis: Spotify Listening Now Notes. With these, artists have a new way to show what they’re listening to, loving, or just want to share in real time, directly in Instagram’s Notes section. 💬⚡️Here’s everything you need to know…

About Instagram Spotify Listening Now Notes

Listening Now Notes let you share the music you’re currently playing on Spotify directly into your Instagram Notes (those little status bubbles above your DMs). The best part? These notes update automatically as your tracks change, offering a real-time snapshot of your listening habits. If you’re a musician, this opens up new ways to:

  • Promote your own releases by playing them and letting them show up on your Note.
  • Shout out collaborators or music you’re loving.
  • Stay relevant with fans and mutuals without posting full Reels or Stories.

📌 How It Works

Ready to try it out for yourself? Here’s how:

  1. Link Your Spotify Account. If you’re posting a music Note for the first time, Instagram will prompt you to connect your Spotify account.
  2. Play Something on Spotify. Already listening? Instagram will detect the track and let you share it instantly. Not listening yet? You’ll be nudged to start a session on Spotify.
  3. Auto-Updates in Real Time. Your Note will refresh as you move from one song to the next. If you go quiet, it’ll keep showing your last track for 30 minutes.
  4. Duration & Visibility. Notes last for 24 hours and are only visible to mutual followers.

Not only that, but lyrics are now visible on Instagram music notes, too. When you or someone else taps a Note with music, the lyrics (when available) show up on the reply sheet. That means fans can see your lyrics if you’re listening to your own song, and you can highlight specific clips and add captions to express your mood.

To wrap things up…

Now with Instagram Spotify Listening Now Notes, you can share what you’re listening to in real time on Instagram. It keeps your profile active, gives people a look at your current vibe, and adds context to conversations, all without needing to post full content. So if you’ve got new music out, it’s a great way to showcase it in a low-key way that still makes an impact.
