The just launched and much publicized Beats Music service hit a snag yesterday afternoon when it was forced to stop adding new users. "Due to the extremely high volume of interest in our service some users are experiencing issues," [wrote](http://blog.beatsmusic.com/2014/01/22/service-update/?ref=hypebot.com) CEO Ian Rogers. "We were prepared for issues like these, have a plan, and are going to hold off on letting more people in while we put the plan into action."

However well planned the recovery, the problems are bad news for a new service riding a wave of positive publicity. Beats also reportedly has made major ad buys around The Grammys and Superbowl, both just days away.

Some early reviewers had [noticed](http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023%5F3-57617631-93/buggy-beats-music-stops-adding-new-members/?ref=hypebot.com) bugs in Beats, though online user comments have been positive. But the bar is particularly high for a service that has no ongoing free tier. To keep user interested, everyone who registers for Beats this week will get an additional seven days added to their seven day trial.
