# CD Baby Slashes Rates For Direct Digital Sales

Baby has lowered the rates it charges artists for download sales from it's [online](http://www.cdbaby.com/?ref=hypebot.com)  
[retail store](http://www.cdbaby.com/?ref=hypebot.com) from 25% to 9%. Several top digital music distributors and retailers are have lowered fees in recent weeks. iTunes and Amazon each charge artists and labels 30%. CD Baby says their new rates are the lowest of any digital music retailer and direct to fan provider.

CDBaby's new 9% rate extends to digital sales through all of CD Baby’s  
Direct-to-Fan sales tools including CD Baby MusicStore For  
Facebook Apps, and Music Store  
Widgets that allow CD Baby artists to sell music on their own websites. CD  
Baby’s admin fee for digital sales through its retail partners including  
Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, Rdio, and others  
has been at 9% since 2004.

Last week Corinthian Capital [sold their majority stake](%20https://www.hypebot.com/hypebot/2013/01/sold-cd-baby-disc-makers-hostbaby.html ) in AVL Digital Group, parent company of CD Baby,  
Disc Makers, HostBaby, and BookBaby to Stephens Capital Partners, a private  
equity group based in Little Rock, AR.
