Digital sheet music startup Chromatik has raised $5.7 million of an $8.8 million Series A founding round, according to an [SEC filing](http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1513929/000151392913000003/xslFormDX01/primary%5Fdoc.xml?ref=hypebot.com). Funders include Rustic Canyon Partners in the lead role, along with Plus Capital, Baroda Ventures, 500 Startups, and rapper/actor Will Smith.

Baroda founder David Bohnett is the chairman of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and Rustic Canyon’s Nate Redmond, will join the [Chromatik](http://chromatik.com/?ref=hypebot.com) board. Bruno Mars, former Virgin Records co-chairman Jeff Ayeroff, and other industry heavyweights [participated ](http://pandodaily.com/2013/05/08/chromatik-continues-to-make-beautiful-music-with-a-5-7-million-and-growing-series-a/?ref=hypebot.com)in a $1 million November 2012 seed round.

Chromatik's free iPad and online apps go beyond the downloadable pdfs that now dominate the online sheet music market. Users can buy or upload sheet music, annotate charts, record practice sessions, and share music. Chromatik users are able to purchase sheet music for both individual and group use, offering an end-to-end solution for music directors, students, and professional musicians.
