The two-hour production will combine music, poetry, storytelling, visual art, and Sphere’s immersive technology, with Winfrey appearing live alongside a large international creative team. For now, *AHA* is being billed as a one-weekend event. But Winfrey has already left the door open to something larger. “The idea is, if it works, you’ll do more,” she told [***People***](https://people.com/oprah-reveals-her-next-big-project-exclusive-12116548?ref=hypebot.com), adding that the production has been offered additional dates. Uh... DUH?! It's Oprah. She can sell more tickets. That's not a question any human on Planet Earth has. The real question is what to do with the production, specific to Sphere and its immersive, *spherical* technological rig, once it becomes clear that a national tour for this show is an available option. ## Oprah Has Toured Arenas Before Firstly, Winfrey is no stranger to the touring business. In 2014, she mounted **“Oprah’s The Life You Want Weekend,”** an eight-city arena tour mixing personal storytelling with appearances from speakers including **Deepak Chopra, Iyanla Vanzant, Elizabeth Gilbert,** and **Rob Bell.** She returned to the road in early 2020 with **“Oprah’s 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus,”** a nine-city U.S. arena tour produced by Live Nation. Each stop was constructed as a day-long wellness event featuring exercises, conversations and a different high-profile guest, including **Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama, Jennifer Lopez, Tina Fey,** and **Dwayne Johnson.** So, yes: Oprah has already demonstrated that she can function as a nationally touring arena headliner. As if that was ever a worry for ticket sellers. *AHA*, however, appears to be built more like a major theatrical or concert production than either of those earlier tours. The resulting production brings together a broad creative collective. **Jacob Collier** will provide a featured musical performance, while poet and author **Ocean Vuong** will present original work. **Ajeet** and gospel singer **Wintley Phipps** are also scheduled to appear. **Max Richter** is contributing musical direction and original music, alongside vocal director **Jason White** and electronic composer **Jon Hopkins.** The writing team includes *Moonlight* screenwriter **Tarell Alvin McCraney,** while artist and stage designer **Es Devlin** will contribute original work. Director **Ethan Tobman** and producer **Baz Halpin** will lead a production intended to use Sphere’s wraparound display and spatial audio system as storytelling tools rather than oversized concert effects. Productions created specifically for Sphere are not easily transferable. Its enormous interior screen, specialized audio system, and immersive architecture cannot simply be packed into trucks and reconstructed in conventional arenas. But the central elements of *AHA* — Winfrey’s storytelling, original music, poetry, guest performers and large-scale visual design — could potentially be adapted into a touring production. It would not be the identical experience, but it could become a portable version of the same idea. Live Nation is presenting the Las Vegas engagement, and Winfrey’s previous tours have already shown the size and loyalty of her live audience. If the initial weekend succeeds, *AHA* could point toward an increasingly broad definition of what qualifies as an arena act: not quite a concert, keynote, theatrical production or wellness event, but a carefully engineered mixture of all four.
