# Gene Simmons To ‘Sue The Pants Off’ Anonymous

Gene Simmons plans to sue members of **Anonymous**. In light of his websites being [kicked offline](https://www.hypebot.com/hypebot/2010/10/anonymous-kicks-gene-simmons-off-the-interwebs-.html) by the group, he has written on his site (which is now down… *again*) that his legal team in coordination with the FBI have identified several of those affiliated with the attacks. They will pursue them at all costs. He muses, “We will find you." As writer Thomas Mennecke at *Sylck* phrased it, “Proving those responsible behind a DDoS attack is difficult, if not impossible.”

First, they would have to gather IP address and discern the difference between those taking part in the attack from those merely visiting. If Botnets were used, it’s possible that some people who took part in the attack did so unknowingly.

Beyond that, catching anyone closely connected to Anonymous it would be almost unfeasible. They use encryption and proxy servers to hide their identity.

Like the Copyright Wars that Simmons advocates for, he will only, if *ever*, get his hands on a few innocents and those at the fringes of the attacks. Those actually involved on deeper levels, like hardcore infringers, are typically unattainable.

Simmons is now an **official target** of Anonymous. **Here's his message**:

Some of you may have heard a few popcorn farts re: our sites being threatened by hackers.

Our **legal team** and the **FBI** have been on the case and we have found a few, shall we say "adventurous" young people, who feel they are above the law. And, as stated in my MIPCOM speech, we will **sue their pants off**.

First, they will be punished.

Second, they might find their little butts in jail, right next to someone who's been there for years and is **looking for a new girl friend**.

We will soon be printing their names and pictures.

**We will find you**.

You cannot hide.
