The 2020 Grammys began last night under the cloud of two weeks of [Recording Academy scandal](https://www.hypebot.com/grammy-controversy-intensifies-with-rape-allegations-against-former-chief-neil-portnow/) and in, as host Alicia Keys eloquently shared, the house that Kobe built.

Retired NBA Laker’s superstar Kobe Bryant, died alongside his 13-year-old daughter and seven others in a helicopter crash just hours before the telecast began.

Despite the dark skies, Alicia Keys did a masterful job of guiding the show through a night of triumphs, disappointments, and surprisingly few speeches.
