Grooveshark has reached a settlement and signed licensing agreements with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. This follows a similar settlement and [deal earlier this month](https://www.hypebot.com/grooveshark-to-settle-emi-publishing-lawsuit-sign-licensing-deal-report/) with EMI Publishing. While disputes with Universal and others still continues, the two deals move the controversial music streamer closer to legitimacy.

by Informa, Sony/ATV Music Publishing is the largest music publisher with a catalogue of compositions that accounted for over 30% revenue market share for 2012, the most recent full calendar year.

"We are excited to add Sony/ATV Music's impressive array of songwriters to our catalogue further advancing our mission to empower creators with the best audio platform in the world," says Grooveshark CEO and Co-founder, Sam Tarantino.

That Grooveshark has survived this long is a surprise to many industry watchers, with legal actions reportedly causing dissension among staff. In July, Grooveshark was added to[ Google Search's autocomplete blacklist](https://www.hypebot.com/grooveshark-added-to-google-search-blacklist/). This dubious distinction has previously been reserved for high profile copyright offenders like The Pirate Bay.
