Older Males Dominate Satellite Radio Listernship

XM and Sirius satellite radio now have about 5 million subscribers, but who are they?

Xmradio_18 A recent survey from International Demographics shows that 76.1 percent of listeners are over of 35 with nearly half are over the age of 45.  A very large percentage of the audience is male with females Siriuslive_1 classification and 17.3 percent put themselves in the professional/technical category. "Surprisingly," said International Demographics president Bob Jordan, "16.6 percent are blue collar workers and 11.0 percent are retired."

Most of these subscribers are obviously active music listeners willing to spend real money every month to get the music experience that want.  Why aren’t the record labels paying more attention to these potential CD buyers?
