A Worthy Click: New Head Automatica Site Launches

A cool and engaging web site should be – after the music itself and a great live show – the cornerstone of every band’s marketing. So we’re always on the lookout for those sites that push the envelope effectively, and the newly launched Head Automatica site does just that.

Propagana Supervised by Warner Brothers Director Of Technology Ethan Kaplan, the site is graphically interesting while sticking with his belief that "flash is only allowed for players/ornamental content".   We agree that flash is usually an unwanted distraction. However, we’re also not a fan of music that starts on a site’s launch which this one unfortunately does.  Other than that we really like how much info has been put on the front page without it seeming cluttered.  We’re also intrigued by the strategy , increasingly used by other bands as well, in taking visitors off site to MySpace for community and additional content.  While great for building an initial fan base, we wonder about push back from those who choose not to get involved in MySpace.

Kudos to Head Automatica and Kaplan. Well worth taking a look at…and the band’s pretty cool too!
