Hypebot’s New Music Business Briefing For Thursday November 9th, 2006

> I’m in NYC for Billboard Talent & Touring Conference and am having some technical difficulties. So a full report from the confab will come tomorrow.  In brief, its been a good conference so far with lots of emphasis on how new technologies can enhance and extend the ticket buying and concert going experience.  Live Nation and Ticketmaster each are doing a lot of interesting experiments.

Zune_logo_25Microsoft is making per unit payments to Universal Music for every Zune sold.  It’s an effort to make nice with a hurting content industry and encourage labels and publishers to allow more freedom on MicrosoftZune’s Wi-Fi sharing platform.  The exact terms are vague and many questions unanswered. Could it also be the very beginnings of the labels experimenting with a blanket licensing of music?  And how will the money be divided between rights holders? (engadget, AP)

  4. Thanks for your plugin… being a non-tecky I was desperately looking for this. Unfortunately this isn’t working when “more tag” is used in a message

    thank you…

  6. What a great idea for a blog. For me, focusing on the negativity drains too much energy. There are indeed very negative things in this world, but I have found that if I focus on the positive then I am able to open my heart more and have more compassion. Thanks for the breath of fresh air and the ‘link love’
