MP3.com To Indie Musicians: Please Come Back
Once the home of free downloads for almost too much indie music to handle, MP3.com had morphed into a music news site under CNet’s corporate umbrella. Now the site is trying to broaden its appeal again by offering indie musicians 100MB of free space and all kinds of tools to promote and share music.
Will the mix of obscure indie music alongside mainstream hit artists prove compelling or will a glut of mediocrity make the experience less than desirable? Our guess is that the quality of the filters – whether from editors or fans – will be the key to the sites ultimate success or failure.
mp3.com used to be the coolest music site on the planet. then they kicked all local/indie bands off that are trying to make it. now they’re inviting them back? screw mp3.com, you killed yourself years ago, die already.
