Could FreedomMP3’s Slightly Restricted MP3’s Be The Answer?

Could this – or something like it – be the answer to the competing interests of "freedom to play the music you buy on multiple platforms (including the iPod)"   vs.  "we don’t want you to make 150 copies for your friends"?
