Forbes has taken an in depth look at three legal ad supported P2P’s set to debut in the coming months – Qtrax, Spiral Frog and Mashboxx. Each company has their own approach, but a common thread is that using one method or another tracks from all three will come heavily
restricted. Glenn at Coolfer points out that none of the tracks will be playable on the iPod which will be a major adoption barrier.
The article is worth reading and ad supported P2P may find a niche audience, but I’m still betting on 2007 being the Year Of The Mp3.
