Music Goes 3-D

Interscope Geffen A&M Records and Academy Award-winning director James Cameron have  partnered to produce 3-D music videos, concerts, commercials and stage musicals.
Planned are 3-D commercials and concert films to a be shown at a circuit of 600-1,000 movie theaters, selling subscriptions to a series of concerts, and merchandising including artists designed 3-D glasses.3d_glasses

Content will be shot using the Fusion digital stereo camera system developed by Cameron that duplicates human vision, putting the audience on stage with the performers.  The first concert is expected to be released within six months.

The project began last year after Gwen Stefani’s "Wind It Up" video was filmed in 3-D alongside a released version.  That unreleased test video so impressed Interscope’s Jimmy Iovine that he partnered with Cameron, who will provide 3-D production expertise as well as proprietary equipment.
