UK Music Crosses Pond All The Way To The Cash Register

New figures released by the UK recorded music industry show that British music is not only dominant at home, but is also performing better in the US charts. BPI analysis of the top-selling 3,000 albums in the  US shows that UK artists now account for almost one in twelve albums sold.

This trend seems set to continue in 2007 with Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Bloc Party, Joss Stone and James Morrison, and Elton John all making an impact on the US charts in the first quarter. The Arctic Monkeys’ second album which is set to become the fastest selling record in the UK so far this year was also just released.
