Mobile Downloads Could Drive Sales Growth
Hypebot has repeatedly wondered why so few major music services have explored over the air downloads. (Kudos to eMusic for recent moves with AT&T)
It seems obvious that making music an impulse buy via cell could create a sales explosion. But
no one in charge at iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster or their peers seems to agree.
Just in case they need proof of our theory, GreeeeN, an act signed to Universal Music Japan. has just sold one million OTA downloads of their single, "Aiuta" (roughly translates as "Love Song").
Add in other mobile configurations like ringtones, ringback tones, and video ringtones the total sales are three million.
there’s still general tech problems , but mainly labels get a much smaller profit from these sales
