eMusic Adds Audiobooks

eMusic is launching a separate Audiobook download subscription service. Monthly subscriptions are $9.99 for one book or $19.99 for two books and you get one book free as part of an
ntroductory offer.

Its a smart extension of their brand and existing technology. Interestingly, at those prices its obvious that book publishers were not going to allow the deep discounting that has been the cornerstone of the music service and the cause of some concern at record labels.

And since Amazon is about to stomp on eMusic’s bragging rights as the best source of DRM-free indie mp3’s;why shouldn’t they take a stab at Amazon’s book business? Good luck with that.
