Friday’s Music 2.0 Briefing: Geffen Cuts, Rock Hall Inducts, Google Snubbed & More

> Geffen and Interscope cut 15 -20 jobs yesterday spread throughout the labels. Among those confirmed layed off at Geffen were veteran publicists Jim Merlis and Jycorri Robinson. Sources imply that while Geffen may not be shuttered as a label, the layoffs may not over yet. (Billboard.biz, Daily Swarm)

> 2008 Rock ‘ Roll Hall Of Fame inductees: Madonna, John Mellencamp, Leonard Cohen, The Ventures, Dave Clark Five, blues harmonica player Little Walter and "Sound of Philadelphia" songwriting/production team Gamble and Huff. The induction ceremony will be held on March 10, 2008 in NYC.

> In a obvious snub to Google’s new Open Social platform, leading socialGoogle networking sites Meebo and Bebo have announced they will integrate with Facebooks open API initiative.  (ars) For now at least it means
widgets and apps will have to be created and maintained in two formats…but at least its down to two.

> Thumbplay and iLike, a social music discovery site that claims 15 million users are in a deal that will place "Get Ringtone" links on artist, album and song pages on iLike.com and the iLike Facebook app.
