New Study: Don’t Forget The Lyrics

A new UK study claims that the public is "struggling to fully appreciate music" because they can’t access accurate lyrics. 90% of respondents feel that reading lyrics helped them gain a full appreciation of music and 50% felt that lyrics were less accessible than just five years ago.

Explanations for the lack of accessible lyrics included that they are no longer found on CD covers and the fact that download rarely include them.

  • 62% of respondents felt that despite the huge variety of websites storing lyrics, they find these sources unreliable and often incorrect
  • 77% of people feel download sites should be offering definitive and accurate lyrics as part of the download experience. (more from the study)
