  • 15% of U.S. universities offer their students a legal download service as an alternative to P2P. Another 17% are either in the process of or seriously considering implementing such a surface. (ars) If true, its  too bad that Napster got out of that business recently.
  • Last_fm
    Last.fm has the new Kaiser Chiefs
    album plus audio commentary from the band a week ahead of its official release.  This follows last week’s Keane exclusive and other recent album premieres including Kings of Leon, Nas and Sigur Ros.
  • Now that Sony bought out BMG it is moving to synch the efforts of its recorded music and electronics division. (RedOrbit) This plan can’t hurt marketing efforts for either division. But to really move the dial Sony, needs to get more aggressive with a restructuring of it’s bloated record business.
