D.I.Y. and label services provider Nimbit has launched nimbitCards, encoded download cards Nimbitcardsthat can then be redeemed via an integrated network of online storefronts on an artist or label’s website and social networking pages.

Artists sell or give away nimbitCards at shows and retail outlets. They can then be redeemed for music via the artist’s nimbitOMT or nimbitSkin store on the band’s website, MySpace or other profile pages where the artist can offer addtional items for sale. Unlike iTunes, eMusic and other e-Tailers, the Nimbit platform passes the customer’s information along to the artist.

According to company president and product guru Phil Antoniades, "We
looked into other redemption solutions and felt that the experience
should provide a direct connection to the artist and their entire
catalog of products. The goal here is for the entire process to
reinforce the artist brand, turning even the casual fan into a patron
for future remarketing. The response from our beta launch has been
extremely positive and now we are working on some very cool, creative
ways to incorporate redemption code programs into various physical and
digital marketing campaigns."

The company is offering nimbitCards in a variety of formats which distribute redemption codes along with the artist’s artwork and messaging. Each card program can be custom configured to direct fans to a specific storefront URL and each campaign is tracked by detailed reports. In addition to accepting nimbitCards, the Nimbit storefront platform accepts all major credit cards and PayPal.
