DropPlay Blends YouTube, Pandora & Facebook

DropPlay
Name a song or artist and DropPlay finds if YouTube has it. Play it and ask for more songs by the same artist or in Pandora-like fashion, another button finds similar songs for you. To try to meet the YouTube API standards, a little video of each song always plays in the upper right corner. Your favorites can be saved in playlists which are shared via Facebook.

“We’re really just trying to make it the best music player and sharing experience,” co-founder Christopher Pedregal told VentureBeat. “The way we envision it, people could have it open in a window, listening to it as they work all day.”

In some ways the site compares to Muziic. DoplPlay's song reccomendations are pretty solid. Leonard Cohen begat Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Tim Buckley. Their revenue model?  None is apparent. Liscencing? Not even an attempt.
