From The Mark & Pat Show:  Attendance is said to be down about 10% or more. But the usual parade of VIPs and platinum badges seems to have been replaced by fans actually in town for the music like this surprise performance by Jane's Addiction at concert promoter C3's party. (more SXSW pics).
