Pandora Launches Paid Premium Service

After attracting 27 million registered users with its free ad supported custom music streaming service, Pandora has launched its first major push for paid subscriptions with Pandora One. For $36 a year users get six features:

  • Pandora poster All audio and visual ads eliminated
  • Higher quality 192kps streaming
  • 5 hours before timeout. Turn it on and let it run.
  • Desktop app that enables play without a browser
  • Mini web based player
  • Custom player skins

  1. In my honest opinion, the only thing there that really adds value is the removal of audio/visual ads.
    192kps streaming? So, it’s like a low-quality MP3?
    5 hours before timeout. So even though I decide to PAY for the service, the music will still dropout during the party? Great.
    I don’t mean to be snarky, but these selling points are just really disappointing.
