Sirius Launches iPhone App Sans Stern

Sirius--iphone Sirius XM has released a long due official iPhone and iPod Touch app. The service is free for Sirius XM subscribers and $3 a month for others. 120 channles of news and music from Sinatra to Sprinsteen are covered, but missing from the mobile device lineup is some major league sports, NASCAR and…Howard Stern.

Sirius XM did not comment on why Stern was not included or what the effect might be when tens of thousands of paying Sirius subscribers realize that other apps deliver great music for free.

  2. How did the world ever function without Howard? I’ll tell you how – just fine! Howard Stern is not the reason I subscribe to Sirius. I listen for the MUSIC. Imagine that. Whatever you think of him, it’s worth noting that he’s the primaray reason SiriusXM is in such dire financial straits. And by the way, for every schlub who says “I’d gladly pay the $3 if Howard were included,” there are 10 of us who, without bothering to tell the world, would gladly pay the fee we are already paying even if Howard were not in the lineup because it’s just not an issue. Why? Because we don’t give a shit about Howard. Yes, we’re out there, the new Silent Majority. Get over it, folks.
