Video: Music & Games @ E3

Billboard's Alan Frutkin takes an look at the growing partnership between the video game and music industries at this year's E3 gaming expo. "Brutal Legend,” “DJ Hero” and “The Beatles: Rock Band” are among the games featured as well as interviews with top executives like RedOctane CEO Dan Rosensweig.

  1. Do you know how the basic licensing agreements are done to get tracks featured into games? Is there an advance or is the licensing revenue earned per video game unit sale?

  2. Thanks Bruce, can you approximate how much Eminem got for each song in DJ Hero or how much the Beatles received for the eponymous game?
    The income is split 50/50 between the master owner (record label) and the publisher right?

  3. I think video game industry had helped music artist to stay on the business by publishing their song through the game they’re making. Maybe it also better if game publisher’s could include popular band song through an MMORPG, what do you think?
