MySpace Music Showing Strong Growth

Growth may have slowed for MySpace, but the same can't be said for its music.myspace.com subdomain. New Nielson figures show a 190% increase at MySpace Music since its launch in September 2008 and year-over-year traffic to the URL has increased a whopping 1,017%  That's a jump from 4.2 million unique visitors to 12.1 million in June 2009.  Compared to other music sites MySoace Music ranked third behind AOL Music and Yahoo! Musicand ahead of MTV Networks Music, MSN Music, Rhapsody and Live Nation.

Teens Still Dominate

Those between the ages od 12 and 17 were 2.4 times more likely than the average net user to visit MySpace Music. Visitors between 18 and 24 were 2.2 more likely than the average Internet user to visit the site in June.

  1. could this just be because bands went from myspace.com to music.myspace.com, therefore the traffic would go aswell. Essentially making this growth irrelevant?
    Or am I just to biased against myspace?

  2. no these figures are comparing the percentages after its launch to last month. I bet that in a year myspace will turn into a great tool for artists to market their music even better than it is now.
    They’ll abandon social networking eventually

  3. I’ve got to admit, I only use Myspace for finding bands and listening to their music. For social networking it just can’t compete with Facebook so it doesn’t surprise me at all that music.Myspace.com is ‘getting big’.
