When The Artist & Fan Relationship Goes Bad
I write a lot about the importance of the artist/fan relationship on Hypebot. But sometimes that realtionship goes sour with violent and strangely amusing results. My personal favorite of Fans vs. Faith No More is above. See 9 more at Revivl via Daily Swarm.
When Bryan Adams hired a company called WebSheriff, whose goal is it to stop copyright violations, at one time last year, he probably didn’t know what to expect. The WebSheriff then drove almost all fansites programmed by fans offline with copyright claims, annoying the webmasters and the community to no end, so that many had serious doubts about what they had been doing: spending lots of their free time creating fansites for free. It was very visible in the fan forums that this behaviour did backfire.
I think my favourite has to be Sebastian Bach dropkicking a kid at a Skid Row gig after he threw a bottle at him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlL5X8toXmw
