Live Nation Extends Ticket Discounts To Clubs

$49.99 UNLIMITED CLUB PASSPORT

It's been a summer of experimentation for Live Nation with an ongoing series of one day sales and dropped ticketing fees at many of its amphitheater shows.  Early indications are that fans reacted enthusiastically; and as the summer winds down, Live Nation is shifting its focus to its large club operation.

For a limited time, LiveNation.com is selling a Club Passport for $49.99 including ticketing fees that get fans into any non-sold out show at many of the large clubs owned or controlled by the company through the end of 2009. Included are House Of Blues and Filmore locations. (There's list of venues and rules after the jump.)

COMMENTARY – The goal of the entire series of promotions has been to fill a larger percentage of the empty seats that are a fixture at most concerts.  Most consumers only go to a few of shows a year, but  a $15 all-in lawn seat  turns concert  attendance from a major financial commitment into an impulse buy.  A $50 Club Passport, however, is more likely to attract the already active music fan who, for a few bucks more than he'd spend anyway, can see more shows.

If the Club Passport delivers enough value, the long term benefit for Live Nation could be more active fans (Malcolm Gladwell would call them connectors) discovering more great bands and telling their friends about them.

The Rules

Beginning today fans can go to LiveNation.com and purchase a Club Passport. A list of participating shows will be immediately available.  Every Monday thereafter, Passport holders log on to LiveNation.com/Passport or follow LiveNation on Facebook or Twitter to see the list of participating club shows in their city and to reserve their ticket.  The Club Passport holders just bring their Live Nation Club Passport number and photo I.D. to the club’s box office and get in with no extra charges.
