NARM Invites Hypebot Readers To Online Music Consumer Behavior Seminar

The National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) is inviting Hypebot readers to attend an online seminar this Thursday, November 5th that will examine the results of a recent study of U.S. music consumer buying habits.  Membership in NARM is not required.

Under President Jim Donio and Bill Wilson, Director Of Business Development & Digital Strategy, the trade group has worked take a leadership role in the digital music industry. This OnSite Research survey, sponsored in part by NARM, looks at consumer behavior including how they discover, acquire and interact with music.  In an hour-long online seminar, OnSite researchers will discuss findings and observations derived from consumer interviews across 20 states.

They online seminar will explore:

  • Music Re-tribalization: "Consumers are using digital tools to regain control of their music and retribalize their music culture.  The impact of this trend on terrestrial and cyber retail will be covered."
  • Cyber Segmentation: "On-Site has developed the first cyber segmentation model that is based on cyber literacy and device competency. Understanding how cyber Boomers have become totally disconnect from their music lives will be discussed. They will also discuss the other segments: Zoomers & Voomers."
  • New Retail Model: "E + C Squared is a new model that illustrates how music companies can find success by empowering consumers, and where the sweet spot may exist in regards to the consumer segments."
