Digital Takes A Hit At Universal

image from www.google.com (Updated) Digital sales and marketing is one of the few relatively bright spots in the music industry., but that doesn't mean that the sector is immune from layoffs.  Last week, Def Jam Senior Vice President of New Media and Commerce Christian Jorg and  Vice President of Web & Mobile Marketing Mark Lehmann were both layed off. Each joined UMG from mobile media company Flycell several years ago.

The job cuts were part of a broader set of cuts that saw 50 let go across several Universal Music Group divisions.

  1. It doesn’t matter. None of the majors have shown any innovative concepts. They are going to milk their current talent for all they are worth and then what?? Live off the back catalogs?
