Iggy Pop Shares His Little Iggy In New Ad

It's not as bad as you think it will be as 70's CBGB's stalwart Iggy Pop shares his "Little Iggy" with the world.  In fact, this insurance ad is actually fairly funny.

Check out another example of the Iggster stoogin' for the man:

  1. Just wondering what the Iggy of the 70’s would say to the Iggy of 2010 if they meet at a bar, both equally shit faced drunk. I, for one, hope a that fight would break out 😉

  2. For the record, the club was CBGB, no apostrophe “S.” For some reason, over time non-New Yorkers started calling CBGB, CBGB’s, presumably because “Max’s Kansas City” was always referred to as “Max’s.” CBGB stood for “Country Blue Grass and Blues,” which is what owner Hilly Kristal originally thought he’d be booking there. So if you want to be one of the hip kids leave off the “s.”
Also, Iggy was *never* a CBGB stalwart, although he certainly influenced many of the bands who performed there. The Stooges famously played Max’s Mark One in the very early 70s at the beginning of a decade-long relationship with David Bowie. At that time CBGB wasn’t even open.
By the time CBGB was in full swing, around 1975, the Stooges had broken up and Iggy was living in Berlin for the most part. I doubt very much he ever played CBGB as a solo act; he was too big and CBGB was never really his scene. I don’t think he ever even hung out there.
