Rhapsody Adds Offline Playlists & An iTunes Buy Button To Mobile App
As promised when they released an Android app last month, Rhapsody today launched a new version of its iPhone app that enables subscribers to download playlists to their iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and listen to them – even when not connected to the net.
With the upgrade, Rhapsody becomes the first U.S. service to enable the downloading of subscription music to the iPhone. A similar app for the Blackberry is scheduled for a summer launch.
An iTunes Buy Button On A Rhapsody App –
Using Rhapsody for iPhone, subscribers can stream, and now download, music from Rhapsody’s 9 million song catalog, listen to net radio, as well as, create and access playlists. In a bow to iTunes' popularity, particularly with iPhone users, the app also "makes it easy" to buy songs from the iTunes store; inevitably costing Rhapsody sales at its own download outlet. In the coming months, Rhapsody will also add the ability to download individual songs and albums as part of an update for the iPhone app.
Premier offering introduced earlier this month, which provides access to
Rhapsody on one mobile device, or to the $14.99 Premier Plus
plan, which allows access to the service on 3 devices.
