Congress To Musicians: “Quit Your Day Job”

(UPDATED)

Your Health Care Will Be Covered

In this short video, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi encourages musicians and other creative types to quite their day jobs because your insurance will be paid for under the new health care bill. Now, I'm a fan of this legislation, but I suggest that you read the fine print before telling your boss to kiss your…

  1. Wow, I could just vomit blood…what planet does this woman live on? Our day jobs give us health insurance? 90% of my friends with college degrees don’t have health insurance and they’ve got 2 or more “Day Jobs” — only a lifelong politician could say something this clueless.

  2. I don’t think that she’s assuming EVERYONE with a day job has health insurance. She’s just saying that with this new bill, there’s no need to feel pressure to stay at one that offers you health insurance because you can have it by strictly being a musician.

  3. “Now, I’m a fan of this legislation” …. excuse me? It frequently disappoints me people are so naive that they buy into the boatload of crap the socialists currently in control of the DNC, like Pelosi routinely shovel out to the public. These people have no more interest in improving health care in the US, than the man in the moon. What they have illegally shoved down the throats of the American taxpayers does nothing to expand availability, decrease costs, improve quality, or anything else they purport it to accomplish. This simply was another democrat takeover of more of the private sector in their quest for enlarging governmental control over the American economy. Everything about this health care takeover increases costs, limits choice, further hampers physicians and medical facilities, while increasing governmental payrolls. What on earth is it that you supposedly are in favor of? If this isn’t repealed, the negative effects on the American economy will be devastating. Just wait until you try to be able to afford to continue the coverage you have after many of these mandated benefits start to kick in ….. driving the premiums through the roof to fund said mandated benefits.

  4. here here Justin..I’m one of those 90%. It sucks living w/o health care and coverage, and I definitely won’t be leaving any of my 4 part time jobs to develop my talent, that is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.

  5. Ok… let me put it to you like this: If you are working PART TIME JOBS, you won’t get benefits. Get a full time job. Make yourself valuable as an employee, market yourself right and get it. You’ll be paid more, work less and be happier in life. Stop under achieving.
Alternatively, please buy it on your own. You can do that: http://www.ehealthinsurance.com. I just checked a 35 year old, non-tobacco user/non-college student can get a plan for under $50 a month depending on what you want for your co-pay and deductible. I’m paying MORE than that now for my employee provided insurance.
