Napster Goes Social With Facebook, Twitter & More

Best Buy owned Napster has added social features to its paid subscription and download music service. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr are all integrated to facilitate easy music sharing with friends. Napster uses can also enjoying more social media content like Flickr photos and YouTube videos while they listen.

Tracks now have share buttons nearby that post to Facebook and Twitter. Friends and followers can listen to listen to the shared songs free even though Napster requires a monthly subscription.

  1. Just as an aside, it’s very interesting and also very strange from a linguistic’s point of view what has happened with the connotations that the word “social” in the digital world. I don’t want to elaborate here, but there should be quite a few social scientists that do some research on the subject at the time.
