HP Bets Dr. Dre Can Create Laptop Envy
Apple is is anchored by its hipness, but most other computer manufacturers compete on features and price alone. HP is trying to change that via a partnership with Dr. Dre. The hip hop star has created a software called Beats By Dre that purports to replicate full audio richness on the computer. (Don't most people care more about what it sounds like on their iPod?) To house Beats, HP has created a laptop and netbook line dubbed Envy and kicked off the ad campaign with "Under Pressure", a Dr. Dre collaboration with Jay-Z, as the soundtrack.
get your story straight. The “Beats” Moniker is a brand parnership between interscope, monster cables, and HP, with a minor “buisness partnership” w/ Dre. Dr. Dre has not “created software”. this was all announced over a year ago when the Beats by Dre headphones were launched. Oh, and who was the second artist to have cutsom Beats headphones? Lady Gaga. Another Interscope artist.
Do your freaking research (you know, BEFORE you make attempts to “report” on things.)
So now that this has been going 12 months, did it make any money? I don’t know anyone who actually does hip hop that thinks those headphones measure up to a basic studio model (Sony MDRs for instance) and I don’t know any hip hop fans who really care that much about Dre anymore.
After those Dr. Pepper ads…
Dr. Dre is very much alive & kickin, I think what you’re thinking is the fact that he is not as visable as a snoop,Jay-z or any high pofile Hip-Hop artist.
